Robin H. Heijmen obtained his Medical Degree cum laude at the Radboud University Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in 1995. He performed his PhD study at the Laboratory of Experimental Cardiology, and defended his thesis on coronary anastomosis for off-pump coronary surgery in 1998. From 1998 to 2003, he was trained in Cardiothoracic surgery at the St. Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein, the Netherlands. Following his residency, he was in July 2003 appointed as staff surgeon at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery in Nieuwegein. His main interests are open and endovascular aortic reconstructive surgery, transcatheter valve implantation, and pulmonary endarterectomy for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension, besides his work in general cardiac practice. Throughout the year, multiple presentations and lectures are provided at (inter)national symposia and congresses. He has published and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, and is a reviewer for various international journals.
